Baldur & Area Endowment Fund

The gift that keeps on giving!

What is it?

The Baldur and Area Endowment Fund is a registered community fund established to support, cultural, educational, recreational and charitable purposes in the Village of Baldur and surrounding area.

How Does it Work?

The Fund is a permanent pool of capital made up of gifts and bequests, carefully invested, which provides a perpetual stream of income to assist and support the changing needs of our community. The Baldur and Area Endowment Fund is set-up under the wing of the Killarney Foundation Inc. As a result we enjoy the benefits of their fraction of the administrative expenses that would be necessary if we had incorporated on our own.

The Board of Directors is comprised of the Reeve and Ward 3 Councilor of the R.M. of Argyle, and the Chair of the following organizations: The Baldur Village Committee, The Baldur Community Development Association, The Argyle Lodge and The Baldur Parent Advisory Group. The C.A.O. of the R.M. of Argyle administers the fund locally and co-ordinates the fund with the Killarney Foundation Inc. The Board of Directors meets semi-annually to disburse the available funds. None of the Directors receive any pay for doing so.

Where Does the Money Go?

The money invested in the Fund is never spent. Only the interest earned by the investments is available for disbursement. A gift to the Fund is not giving your money away, it is investing in the future of your community.

How Has the Fund Been Doing So Far?

At December 31, 2000, the Baldur and Area Endowment Fund had received donations totaling $33,327.00. This is comprised of donations from the estates of Albert Bateman and Dora Fowler, from Agricore #232, from Marion Reykdal (to commemorate special occasions for various individuals) and from various people In Memory of the following: Edna Johnson, Finna Bolack, Rene Scott, Ivy Warrener, Fred Macklin, Charmaine Jones, Tryggvi Johnson, Tat Dearsley, and Stan Skardal. In 2000, the first disbursements from the Fund went to The Baldur Cemetery Co., The Baldur Memorial Hall, and the Argyle Public Library, with each group receiving $400.00.
